Regardless of the season, every runner needs a decent pair of sunglasses in their armory when taking to the road or trail.
Not only can the right pair keep your vision clear for spotting obstacles or hazards, they can also increase your comfort and, sure why not, make you look cooler while you’re getting in your miles.
But not every pair is built equal, whether it's getting the right scratch resistant, anti-glare lenses, a super lightweight frame you can forget you’re wearing, or full wrap-around coverage. We’ve put the best options to the test so you don’t have to.

Our verdict
If you’re looking for sunglasses purely for running it's hard to go wrong with a pair of Oakleys and the Flak sunglasses are testament to this - although they come at a pretty high price.
Tracksmith’s Kazu Tourers are even more expensive and might be considered a bit more of an acquired taste style-wise, but are just as good out on the track.
In terms of value, it's hard to look beyond Goodr, they may lack some of the fancier claims of more expensive brands but they are just simply really good running sunglasses at an almost unbelievable price - although if you are looking for prescription sunglasses they quickly get as expensive as the others on our list.
For a pair of general sunglasses that you can also take running, Roka’s offerings are fantastic. I’ve highlighted the Hunter 2.0 here but the Barton 2.0 is also a great choice if you want something slightly chunkier.
