We’ve picked the MeacoFan 1056p as our favourite tried and tested model overall, as its reliable performance makes it the best option for most people, despite the slightly elevated price tag.

A standout feature includes its multi-directional oscillation, which means the fan head can move vertically, as well as horizontally and can even do both at once, allowing the head to turn in circular motions.

In our tests we found it to be surprisingly quiet compared to other fans we’ve tested, even on medium speed settings. This makes it a great option for people who want a fan for sleep or want to be able to comfortably use their fan while working or watching TV.

It has 12 speeds in total and this includes a sleep mode, which gradually decreases in speed every 30 minutes until it gets to its lowest level. There’s also a timer, which can be used alongside the sleep mode to save on energy.

While the MeacoFan 1056p isn’t the most attractive fan I’ve reviewed, it has some brilliant quality of life features that I think make it well worth investing in for future heatwaves.

What is the difference between "Eau de Parfum" and Eau de Toilette?"

What differentiates these two terms from one another is concentration — one is stronger and usually costs a bit more than the other. In my testing over the years, I've found that the best long-lasting fragrances fall under the "eau de parfum" title while those that fade more quickly tend to be categorized under the "eau de toilette" descriptor.

Laura Slatkin, founder of Nest New York, shared the difference between the two terms with InStyle in 2023.

"An eau de parfum has a higher concentration of fragrance oil than an eau de toilette,” she said. “In the fragrance world, the order of highest to lowest concentration is pure perfume, which tends to be solid: eau de parfum, eau de toilette and eau de cologne.”
